Hello everyone, goodness I've been trying hard to see the difference between a large date and a small date 1970 penny. I just can't see the difference UGH! While I was looking at this penny I noticed three lines on the 7 and 0 and two S's. Is this considered a RPM? Also if you could tell me if this is a large date? I think it's a large date because the 9 appears to be going down towards the S right? I will never master large date small date 1960's or 70's pennies. Thank you
The 9 is much more closed on the small date. The point at the bottom is very sharp, and LIBERTY is weakly struck (on business strike coins, not proofs). The large date the 9 is open and points down to the foot of the 7. The bottom point of the 9 is blunt and LIBERTY is well struck.
