  1. Double Die

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

Saw this and thought what the heck, I'll splurge the $8 to add this to the collection.

Is that broad struck or on the wrong planchet? The reason I ask is because the entire strike is showing, unlike an off center strike.

It was designated as "off center" but I'm pretty sure it's broad struck. Very little of the rim has any reeding and some of the gooey caramel center is pushing out from between the clad. Quite a bit of the lettering is deformed also. That's actually why I chose this one.

It's a cool looking coin and the price was right.

Definitely not on a wrong planchet.

It is definitely a broadstrike. It is actually an "uncentered broadstrike" as no features are missing.

Here are a few "centered" broadstrikes from my collection, all struck on type 1 blanks (the SBA is actually on a proof blank!)

That SBA is special. Excellent tones and of course the strike makes all the difference.
