It's gonna feel a little dark, this was my first impression of the coin. I will give you another impression, a little later in the thread. For All you newbies, claim your stake, and take a chance on your skills. All threads here are open for discussion.
It looks like a luster bomb with some dark spots of toning. The surfaces looks clear and it has a great strike. There's definition on Liberty's right arm, I've seen so many that are just flat and unnatural looking. I'd call it a 66+. Had it not been for the not so appealing toning I think it would go 67 easy.
Grade? I don't know. I just know now I want to go out and buy another one for myself !! Great looking coin. 66+. some of that weird spotty obverse toning has me holding back a 67. But you probably got a 68 ?
I also would say a 65 , because of toning could be hiding something But still a very nice commemorative.
I 100% agree with everyone here. I have the coin in hand and can't find any other reason except the toning that kept this from a 66. I only took this as part of a trade, and got a pretty good deal. I shouldn't have any trouble getting my money back out of it.
I am not sure myself, If I had my best guess, I would say that I agree probably spent some time in an envelope.
