There is a coin show in Houston that has a few ancient coin dealers (Pegasi, Nilus, 900 Fine, and a few others that have some ancient coins for sale). I picked up a few treasures today. If you are in the area, maybe you can make the show on Saturday. As usual, I had a chance to see several other great coins. Some pics of both below. I picked up 4 RR pieces and two outside my normal collecting area cause they looked neat. from top, l2r three aes rude; 25g, 15g & 13g RR As, Q.TITI, 90 BC from March 1931 Glending auction (Lot 334), Edmund Nordheim collection Roman Prov; Mysia, Parium; Macrinus (217 - 218 AD) / Capricorn; 5.2 g, 21 mm Greece, Eubola Histaia; 267 - 168 MB; 2.4 g, 13.9 x 16.0 mm Some interesting pieces, not mine -
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the show this weekend as I have a booth to mind at The Houston Book Show. Glad you found some goodies.
All three of those coins are pretty darn cool, I dig those "long faced" Janus heads on the Titi coins, cool capricorn...and a neat great AR!
Lovely quality Titia As. It's not in the Nordheim plates. Appears to have been part of a group lot. Photo of lot listing above.
It is always good to see YNs (Young Numismatists) at coin shows and coin club meetings. It is good to see a few younger folks in the room full of gray hair. The first pic shows a YN at Pegasi's table. I heard Nick say answer those questions and see me at the next show. That is good advertising. Two YNs were buying coin books from Jack P. Jack gives YNs a coin or two when they visit his table. The last YN had a brief case to store his collection. I was not fast enough to get a pic of him looking though a US note with the ceiling light.
My wife and I bring a bag of ancients to give to YNs at shows. I just wish there were more shows to go to.
