This Kennedy half is almost the size of an Ike, and even more difficult to photograph. Has a proof-like appearance but no tumbling marks; definitely business strike. I tried a million positions, types of lighting, etc., but this is the best I can get it. I can't do it justice on either side. Oh, well, enjoy! MS62 PCGS 1986 P on a Type 1 Blank (no rim), and straight-graded.
Also, how do blanks sneak through without going through the upsetting mill? They are fed to it directly. Was it rolling on its edge through the upset mill to get to the next stage? I mean how else is it possible that it makes it to the die process?
