Even though I cannot see the images I beleive you are either incorrect or some how I managed to receive this persons similar dime in IOWA. The obverse of the dime that I have shows a raised Mark in Roosevelt's nostril and on mine there also looks to be a raised Mark on his brow. Th reverse shows splitting north to south on the the #2 flame going right to left.As well as some other possible die markers that look to be chips and scratches. The die shows significant deterioration and there is DDD on most the reverse design, the flame on mine does not look to be due to DDD. I will be checking some references to see if it's a die clash, variety type, true Double Die or maybe a combination. I would like to be able to seen these images for comparison.
Iowa must be a special place then The correct Numismatic Terminology is actually Doubled Die and not double die.. Big difference How about a picture of yours?
This statement is so funny I just can't think of a response. "Even though I cannot see the images" still: " beleive you are either incorrect" So, you can't see the pictures, yet I an incorrect, can you view them psychically? yet: or some how I managed to receive this persons similar dime in IOWA. " Please 'splain to me how you can get a similar dime that is invisible?
This persons error or break of a nostril and flame on the dime sounds a lot like what I have. Great you answered. How about actually being helpfull instead of criticising me and use your excellent memory to remember what the images looked like.... Maybe the person was on to something, maybe not. These feeds are not meant belittle people and natzi grammar the back outta them. I can handle it but that crap can ruin the fun for someone persuing an interest in the hobby.
You first bumped a FOUR year old thread and proceeded to make little sense, yet now decide it's a good idea to go on the attack over what was clearly a lighthearted kid? Unless you relax and stop being triggered over nothing, your time here will not be enjoyable. Take a deep breath and try to understand that no one is out to get you. That said, such breaks are very common on later dimes. Simply look at a handful and you're bound to find many displaying the similar. Good luck.
I am keeping this one regardless what is said. I have looked around, didn't find anything. Only thing I found was this thread. I'm guessing most likely Die Clash or bunch of die chips., hoping for variety. All areas circled look about the same height as the design. Will try and see about better images. Some supportive feedback and a few pairs of eyes to dig deeper would be appreciated. I know these don't hold much value but finding out if it's a new variety or helping someone else is well worth the criticism. Thanks for the feedback so far.
Looks like die cracks on the reverse, can't say for sure on the obverse. Might be a die chip or some damage. It would not be a clash, a clash is visible in the fields of the coin not the devices. The fields are the high point on the die and would sustain the damage when the dies come together.
Thank you for the feedback. Would be helpful if the images in the original thread were viewable to me. There is a chance they were describing the same marks. If the person from the original thread has the same markings it would be a huge coincidence. To my understanding a variety is a die pair with distinct marking that are not part of the original design which make of significant difference. A Roosevelt's flared cocaine nostril and an extra flame is pretty significant. If there are others out there that no one has noticed with the same marks where 100's or 1000's were minted from something like a late stage die issue, would that make this a variety? There are several reasons why it could have gone unnoticed. The modern dime isn't as collectable and people are not looking for the varieties like they do for pennies, nickels and quarters. The details are so small and fine that it is easily over-looked, besides that it's the same design and not much has been done with the design to spark the collectors interest. The penny, nickel and quarter have had many facelifts and has added a spark for the collectability and variety hunting of newer age American coinage. I know there are others that hate looking through dimes and that very rarely RH through dimes likeamyself. Even though I look at all denomination pocket change the typical collector probably does not.
Mikesayso Rev does look like die cracks, and I agree whatever is going on on the nose is either a die chip or die gouge. Chrissss1990 I see nothing on the 1991 P dime. Give me a hand, what are you seeing? On the 1997 the reverse shows sever die wear and the weakness of UNUM is probably a combination of that and some grease filling.
Well I have a 1997p DD front and back no rim on the back but has one on the front dont no wat it's worth can anyone help thanks
Without good images I doubt we can help you. And start your own thread, don't tack it onto one that is four years old.
