It has a star after "in God we trust" and by the bottom right "1" and the numbers (plate numbers?) are missing.
rlm the 'stars' you mention are the 'plates numbers' for web notes this note is a 1988A web note with print run 5, plate numbers 3-3
Actually a 3/2 but that's my scanning. YES FOLKS! It IS a web note that we hear about from time to time and when I have time I'll explain it unless Gatzdon jumps in. Pull a $1 note out of your pocket then compare plate numbers on the front and back with where they are on this note and you'll see the difference. Good eye(s) everyone.
Notes printed by the WEB Press method may be identified by the absence of the check letter-number on the face and the placement of a check number only (no letter) on the back, to the right of the "In God we Trust" RickieB

Isn't ebay much more reliable??? LOL sorry, been busy the last few days. Both links above are good links. One thing I didn't see in those links that I've seen referenced many times is that this failed experiment cost the BEP more than $50 Million. If you ever find a star note on a web press note, you'll see the price of that skyrocket. Same with error notes (although there are some errors that just aren't possible with the web press like an inverted obverse, missing print, etc..
thanks clembo! Thats one of the pages i use to find the 'rarity' of web notes. It took me a minute or two, but Here is the page i was talking about. On the top left of the page are 3 lines under red text. they are for the 1988-A, 1093 and 1995 web note runs. Hover over one of the series, and a menu appears with all the blocks, and then all the print runs in each block. Click on the last sub-menu,and a page will appear telling you alot of information about the note. I have used it to rate all the web notes i have. I am not sure how close to reality their 'values' are - since they do sell notes. But its a good site nonethe less.
