Bought a few things and almost payed with ones but decided to use two $5 instead. Didn't look at my change until I went to pay for lunch today. Don't worry - I'm holding on to them! Wish I had checked my change while at STAR-Bucks, for that matter wish I had needed 4-ones in change not just 2. Have to wonder if someone else spent their stash of star bucks thinking it would be fitting.
lol, please. Ive had at least 2 star notes which I do not keep (out of 5 total). Im not sure anyone else would want them either. I spent them because the serial # was too high, for me
high serial, torn, ripped, spit on, cut up, burnt, sawed, run'd over, shot at, chewing gum stuck to back, bar-b-que sauce smeared on front, pen makrs - even sharpier marks ... never to bad for me to keep
Nope - not worth much but still fun to have. Will save them till I have a bunch then maybe offer them up somehow.
So do you guys ever find yourselves standing at the register about to cash out and realize that you havent checked for stars. Then you check them while the guy at the register has his hand out waiting for the money??? I know it happens to me more often than it should. And I cant just hand away my money without checking it first. I usually get some weird looks but it dont bother me. Anyone else have this problem???
Actually I get weirder looks when I get change and immediately start poring over the notes. It's funny I don't do this with coins until I get home but currency right then and there. Now Magman, Before I was on Cointalk I probably KNOWINGLY spent more star notes than most of the people here combined. No way I could afford what I used to see in a typical day. Now that I'm here I'll start posting them in the open forum. Believe me someone will want them. People like star notes.
Nice Find, yeah, they always seam to come in groups. My buddy used to work in a car wash and got dollar tips all the time, i told him about star notes and he started saving them up. Long story short on my wedding i got a fat envelope, it was over 100 star notes and another dollar bill with a low serial number, 2006. Good Friend.
True, I probably spent them as well. In fact, and this is an interesting coincidence, is that when I first learned about star notes I checked my wallet, and what do you know? I had one sitting there. Anyways. next time I find one, I'll keep it and put it on the open forum - or I'll wait till I get a few. edit: just for you I put up a star not in the Open Forum
That's exactly what happened to me yesterday at subway. When I saw those two star notes I stuffed the money back in my pocket and grabbed a $20 from my wallet. The girl behind the counter says to me - "I have no ones - do you have something smaller?". She just saw me stuff a hand full back in my pocket (she may have even seen the stars???) so she knew I had ones. I pulled them back out and I had enough other to pay for the sandwich. I was a bit flustered for a second as I had to think of what I was going to do or say.
