    Likely PMD, if it looks like damage, its likely damage.

    I've seen this look from taking a propane torch to a coin.

    Extreme heat affects the Clad layers on Dimes and Quarters.. bubbles and warping

    I have one similar to that. The nose / mouth are is one big bubble ( CUD? ) and on reverse opposite side from Roosevelt face is a large indent. Still researching this one.

    I have also and this one doesn't show the "Scorch" ( blue tint ) from the flame as most do. Not heated.

    The scorch can be removed or worn off. The bubble remains. Have you ever noticed how often that coins that have these random "errors which are not" are also lacking normal surfaces in general? Yeahhhh, me too. It's called damage for a reason.
