L missing in Liberty on this penny. Error?

It would help if the whole side was shown, as it could be several things in my mind, from grease in the die , to damage where it appears something may have scraped it lightly , up to the edge of the "I". But no value increase I can see here. Welcome to the forum. Jim

A full obv. and rev. photo would be good!

 

It appears to be the result of a partially grease-filled die. I don't see any evidence that the letter was removed. That would have taken a real expert to accomplish that without leaving any scrapes in the adjoining area.

Very small if any. There quite a few in the Lincoln series, they are quite common.
