I'm sorry guys. This one got past page 1 and I forgot to update it.

The coin graded AU 58 at PCGS.

I love the coin. It has the most luster of any AU draped bust coin I've ever seen. The strike is a bit suspect on the reverse, but not uncommon for the type as most draped bust coins have some type of strike issue. There are a few spots on both sides, particuarly evident on the obverse. But...

Unfortunately, I'm of the opinion that the coin is not natural. The color is a bit to "gold" for me to be believeable. Not that this is necessarily terrible, as many/most of the coins of this era, particularly copper, have been improved in some way.

The combined spots and color made me return the coin. I'm sure it will find a good home soon, as it really is a very attractive and striking coin in-hand, but just not for me.

Thanks to all that guessed and commented. I appreciate it.

    Have fun...Mike

p.s. the coin has clear high-point wear -- no doubt it is an AU coin, albeit an extremely lustrous one.

p.p.s. I generally don't like to post coins that I end up returning, but this coin was interesting enough that I broke my own rules.
