I picked up this Uncirculated Kennedy Half dollar pretty cheap. 2004 is my oldest son's birth year which is why I got it. Anyway, the only guarantee was that it would be uncirculated. BUT, I think it looks pretty darn good. I'm still pretty green so me guessing the grade means squat. I wondered what you guys thought about it. I'm not planning to send it in, I just thought it was a pretty good looking coin for what I paid. My pictures still need work so they don't show the coin quite as nice as it is in hand. I did look at PCGS Photograde and make a guess based on that. 2004D-KennedyHalf.jpg

By those photogs, I couldn't harry a grade. Keep it 'raw' though. Don't drink the Kool Aid........

Looks about like most of the NIFCs I have seen in rolls. I would expect them to be in better shape than more circulated stuff. Definitely keep it raw though :) Don't give in ;)

No intention of getting it slabbed, just looked nicer than a few others I have. Putting this one away for my son. He doesn't have much interest now but he may change his mind later.

Be careful with that. My son is 7 now and I accidentally have turned him into a coin monster :) Not that I don't enjoy having a partner in crime...but it can be a bit much at times. Even for me :p

Based upon the photographs, I'm of the opinion that the coin would be an MS64/65 Tops.

There are some serious scratches on the obverse. Large X under the ear, deep gouge in the chin as well as a lot of other chatter.
If this coin were to grade MS I am more 62.

Wow, you're tough. I'm seeing a 64. But... cook it up or gas it a little and you can push it to 66!

I tend to agree. There is more chatter on the Obv than the reverse and also looks like the over-exposure pics might be hiding more around the "IN GOD" area judging by the rim nics in that area also. Still a decent looking half!
