The 1999p Proof Anthony dollar come encased in a capsule. I have tried to open it but cannot as I wish to put it in a Capital. I see where one of the capsules is recessed to go into he other but have been unable to lift it out.? Thank you
If your hands are steadier than mine (a cerebral hemm 9 years ago) a sharp knife edge can free it up. Small bites. Pry, rotate, pry, rotate, repeat. Don't be in a hurry.

You know, I think there could be a market for something like a tiny hand-held vise that would let you slowly tighten a pair of wedges against opposing edges of a capsule until it starts to pop. I've been fortunate enough not to suffer any disabling neurological damage so far, but I've never been especially sure-fingered. I'd love to use something less risky than a knife/screwdriver/chisel to open those cursed things. Protect the coins and protect my fingers.
