Is this a form of doubling or another anomaly ? On reverse of STTES in States... IMG_20180509_141659062_HDR.jpg IMG_20180509_141713599_HDR.jpg

"Lines" are meaningless and in no way automatically suggestive of doubling.

May I ask if you've yet explored John Wexler's website? If not, please do; there's a ton of excellent and educational info provided there.

Wasn't suggesting anything here! And I have and still reading to educate myself. Clearly just looking for opinions and thanks for yours .

Then what exactly are you seeing if not said "lines" clearly visible on the T and E?

Also, I'm guessing you do not understand what "suggestive" means in the context used?

Yes I'm seeing the lines. Of which I have not seen before or have yet to read about in any text that I can recall. Sorry for the misunderstanding of the sentence you posted. I would have to state that they are not meaningless and there has to be an explanation too said lines, which is why I posted. Thanks

I'm sure there is an explanation and wish I could tell you with any level of certainty what it is. Unfortunately, when actively involved in this hobby I cared only about the "is" as opposed to the "why".

Also, what I meant by "meaningless" is simply that they do not automatically suggest hub doubling. In this case the fact that they're not exact reproductions of the primary lettering is the dead giveaway.

That said, misunderstandings happen and no apology necessary, but thank you for handling it in a respectful manner.
