    Emperor Mutsuhito.

Six years after this coin was minted the Satsuma Rebellion (Battle of Shiroyama, "The Last Samurai" battle, leadered by Tom Cruise... :troll: cof, cof ...er, Saigo Takamori) blaff. They tried to change the direction the country was taking. The rebellion was smashed up by the imperial army (30000 soldiers vs 500 samurais... :cigar:).

Saigo Takamori (seated wearing riding boots, white pants and military jacket ).

Was the end of an era and the start of modern Japan.

Don't forget to mention the chrysanthemum and paulownia flowers! The chrysanthemum of course represents the emperor, and the paulownia flowers represent the Prime Minister.

Picture looks okay to me. I also center the denomination at the bottom with the dragon (holding the pearl) facing left when I do my own pictures. (unless the pix got flipped between our posts :D)
