Hi - I have two sons that have caught my coin bug and they spent the evening searching and weighing 1982 and 1983 pennies while I researched how to tell what they are. I have all three of us confused! They found some interesting examples and I am hoping someone can point out a coin or two that could be special. Here are photos of three Zinc 1982 pennies. They all weigh 2.52 grams each. I will post 19 1982 copper pennies right after these three. Let me know what you think.
Welcome to CT. The only 1982 that has value over 1 cent is the 1982-D copper small date. You will not find one. Where did you hear about the coin?

I’ll post another pic of anything suspect we see after reviewing them later today. @ldhair - I search for the coin dates and about a 1,000 different websites come up with pieces of info. Is there a place with an updated guide that helps you know what to look for? All in a single page?
I don't know of a single page that is going to help. Are you just looking for error coins? Just Lincoln cents? Do you guys have a Red Book?
My wife inherited her grandfather’s coin collection which consisted of mostly pennies stored in Whitman albums. He had several books starting in 1909 that were completely filled and a few more partially filled that started in 1941. We’re going back and filling in the holes and have started our own Lincoln cent albums. Collecting all the varieties from each year, as much as possible. I have two 5-gallon water jugs filled to the top with change that I started filling in 1992. We’re having great time picking through them. I’m trying to make sure we understand what we should set aside that could potentially be very valuable. All the pennies above were pulled out and set aside during an hour long search. We set them aside and then weigh them once we’re finished. The boys love the statehood quarter errors, be it valuable or not, so we spend a lot of time picking through those. Finding quite a bit too. We’ve probably found 25 of the Kansas “In God We Rust” coins. The may not be valuable but we love finding the unusual ones. No, we don’t have a Red Book but I just ordered it via Amazon. Appreciate the tip!
