Hi Gang, I just completed researching the John Wayne bronze medal that the mint is offering. This was interesting to say the least. Here was a man who was an American icon. At the time I don't think there was an American alive who couldn't name their 3 favorite John Wayne movies. Everyone knew what John Wayne stood for. There was no confusion. John wayne didn't lie, and believed that the bad guy should be dealt with. Honor was his creed. When this medal was being considered in Congress a big debate began. What can you say about a man who was bigger than life. How could you put what was needed to be said on a medal 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It was considered that his philosophy which was, I will Cower to no Master nor bend to no threat. There was just too much to say about this man who loved America, believed in America and lived his life as an American. It was finally settled the medal was issued with three simple words.....
