SELL all your coins to that "friend" and let them "cheat" you.
Odds are you'll NEVER regret it.

@RachelRuth . You've been posting here for a little while and appear to be interested in coins. I highly, strongly, unequivocally absolutely recommend buying the following book. It's filled with an unbelievable amount of info that will benefit a new collector. It will be the best $12-$15 you'll ever spend on the hobby.

BTW: If you had this book you would know that a 1979-O does not exist. You'll also find out that the D mm was used for 2 different mints (along with a lot of other stuff).

This book is now officially obsolete. The vastly updated 2019 is in stock. (... and on my bookshelf.)

I bought a 2010 edition called the "Professional Edition" (Craigslist) which has oodles of facts and figures (including most well-known errors) but only has values starting at MS60.

Yep, but they have discontinued that whole version now. It has been supplanted by the Mega Red.

Ya know what though? After re-reading it I realize I messed up a few places. I really should have said that it has Double die. I intentionally used the wording "really cool coloring" instead of toning or tone. But hey, it was late and it really doesn't matter because iregardless it was a hoot and a hit.

Thanks for all the great comments, was awesome lol.

Honestly, at first I thought it wasn't a joke. So many newbies post claiming they have a rare error worth millions. :)

You might consider using a less 'colorful' word in place of the excrement one - if the moderators are awake and on duty, they will edit the s word and notify you of the degree of inappropriateness in this forum
Anyway, the only thing I can find under my car is this :yack:>

Most any coin you find in the street likely has had a few adverse encounters between vehicle tires and rough pavement. Still worth face value, however.

    Say truth but don't denigrate.

Can you succinctly tell this "boomer" why that is? I ask because denigration IS A LEARNED SKILL, and one that was taught me well. My formal education began in 1960, and denigration was its fulltime partner throughout, when circumstances required it. No one cared about ANYBOIDY'S self-esteem then. You wanted self-esteem? You got it by being correct.

"ANYBOIDY"; my formal education commenced well prior to yours, and included semi-literate-but-fully=accredited, boy-hating, black-clad, ruler-swinging catholic nunjas, who had mastered inhuman, dark skills of slowing down time until their victims were reduced to anticipating the interest and excitement of the buzzing of a misdirected fly in the classroom; taking one's next breath or of speculating whose head, colliding with a blackboard had produced the dull thud reverberating from the other side of the wall in the next room from ours.
Self-esteem was only to be found several floors above where we sat; i.e.: at ground level, preferably at least a few blocks away, and "circumstances" always called for denigration at least 50% greater than not being "correct" might warrant. Incorrect spelling was always certain to elicit the most savage and cruelly-administered measures of denigration allowed by the archdiocese to which we were allotted by an indifferent universe.
However, time has passed, and thanks to exposure to positive thoughts and ideas of people more fortunate than myself, I have elevated myself from the bottomless, bleak miasma that is reflexive, possibly vengeful expression of online, Facebook interest-group denigration; others may possibly, as well?
