I wanted to apologize before my post causes any more pain to anyone who read it. I have become hyper vigilant around current events and easily travel down tangents with unplanned anger and this venue is not the place for it.. I had two different posts to offer and I picked the wrong one and damaged a great thread, for that I am sorry. To Cheech9712, come 25 June, my family will mark 50 years as a Gold Star Family from the Vietnam War and for your loss, I am sorry and do not suggest any Vet, because of age, is more important than another. Maybe I have survivor guilt?, I know I can't go to the Wall, I came close a few years back, but no. My son went and made a tracing for me. I just hate to see the young kids hurt for an unclear reason and the ease we are talking about war. Peace.

Nolan to be complete honest. Went to the wall and never want to go again. Was hard. But i owed it to my husband. Look it took me awhile to not be a hater. People can say what they say. But its part of the healing process. We live our lives the best we can but the ghost are hidden deep. PTSD is real and families suffer this also. Its not anything to be ashamed of. Ask any wife of a vet. I have

You are a special person..I have never visited a VA Hospital...don't have the courage...I see Vets in passing with burns, scars, missing limbs and other injuries. Some have hats, or patches to identify their service..I often sleek away after saluting them in order that they do not see tears in my eyes...I am truly a coward.

I have stayed away from this post in fear I might make it worse, but thanks for the replies. Cheech9712, yes, what you are experiencing is PTSD, sadly, it won't go away as so many things can trigger it. I've been doing it for fifty years. Bud1 Wilson, every Vet was glad to do what was ask and calling yourself a coward is unfair to you, just acknowledge them, like it sounds you do. Cheech9712, there might be help at the V.A. for your PTSD, do you have survivor's benefits?
