got this new scaner thats got super close up and i found this 1944 s what do they call this type of S

if we could see a bit below the MM, the bottom of the 'S' looks like it has a seconday top serrif of the 'S' .. would bt interesting to see below it to see if there are any remnants of a second MM...

not sure if what it think is even possible, but thats how it looks.

now i am confused lol this last pic makes the MM look like its punch 'into' the coin. It almost looks like a different coin.

but, based on the last picture, it doesnt look (to me nehoot) like another MM is there, or ever was there. So im not sure what it is.

 

Looks like a slightly filled die to me.
