:headbang: Can somebody help me with the below picture?? I have a America's Obsolete Coin Collection set & the plastic the coins are enclosed in on the back say United States Minted Coin Set. I have been looking to get a little bit of information on these coins & I've had NO Luck!! Can somebody tell me if these coins were actually from the US Mint & are they proofs, uncirculated or circulated coins?? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm afraid that it's not worth a great deal. Of course it all depends on the dates and conditions of the coins, but if they are common dates (like I suspect they are) the value will be at or below $10.00. Take Care Ben
i bought a few sets that look like that. the only diference was they were not in a plastic case. the coins were circulated. what does the square in the bottom left hand side on the back say?
The mint made these coins and would have to assume they are circulated from what I see. Lots of dealers put together sets like this. I have an obsolete set of cents myself. Kind of neat but I am not counting on it for part of my retirment income. Still think it is interesting.
Thank you all! The years are common, the penny is pretty obvious since it's a steel penny, the buffalo nickel is a 1936, the mercury Dime is a 1942 D & the washington Quarter is a 1964 D.
Private companies take ordinary circulated coins and place them in holders like these and then sell them to people.
I'm going to guess that the set was put together after 1998, simply because the quarter used could only be considered "obsolete" if we assume there will be a redesigned quarter to follow the end of the State Quarter series. Or not. I didn't notice originally that it refers to a "Silver Washington Quarter", so it might have been done as early as 1965.
