:hail:I stopped by the gas station this morning to get gas. I looked down on the ground and saw this coin (France), How lucky can you get?
I usually find pennies, dimes and one time found 5 dollar bill.:thumb:;).
I added the big boys to my collection

    1.Kennedy half dollar 1970's
2.General/President Dwight D. Eisenhower some of the 1970's

    Hello,

Lucky you are to find one of these in Texas. Here in France, I've not seen any for ages.

    Hey, wait ... that's Ireland. :D

And yes, Cucumbor, such older coins are much less likely to just "show up" in their country of origin. People will have gotten rid of them in time, or not really bother any more ...

I think I have some of them. I was quite common in France.

I can't check World Coins catalog to look up for the numismatic prize of it, but its face value is (aprox) :

    10 francs = 1,52 € = 2,24 $

And take into account that money had more value in 1989.

So you have been lucky, not to mention you found it in Texas.

In terms of conversion/exchange rates, that is right. But before anybody rushes from Texas to France in order to get the money ;) the pre-euro coins from six euro countries, including France, cannot be redeemed any more. So for such a coin, we should now say "10 francs = 0,00 €", hehe. Then again, this one made a collector happy which is even better ...
