Congrats. It's a small date copper cent. 1 of about a bajallion minted (estimated amount). You are looking for the 82D small date. Though I wouldn't waste too much time looking for it if I were you. Where, may I ask did you learn about said coin? @paddyman98 just because I know you love these as much as I do.
I found out about it though a couple friends who have been collecting for years. They told me about the elusive 82D. I found the 82P and was wondering it it could be as good. I have a few 82D small dates but they weigh 2.5 grams so I know they aren't worth anything.
Give it up man. You are close enough to retirement to just do it the way everyone else does. You aren't gonna strike it rich with pocket change any time soon my friend.
Do we have the record for "Most incorrect new members who think they struck it rich on a coin forum" I think that is a Guisness World Record
It's a fair (and very common) question, so no harm in asking. Unfortunately, you'll find that little differences can mean everything in this hobby.
Paddyman98, I'm already retired and have been for 3 years. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones I retired at 60. Almost 30 years of driving a truck over the road. Little over 3.5 million miles. Was time to give it up. Dr told me about a month and a half ago to get a hobby. He told me I was getting soft.
CoinBlazer, I never thought I'd get rich doing this. Just want to learn a few things, so I actually know what I'm looking for.
You deserve the best hobby then, this could be it, it is interesting and engaging, you will like it I am sure, this link below will keep you busy. http://www.lincolncentresource.com I hope you don't miss the log
Welcome to CoinTalk...getting soft...need a hobby, coin collecting isn't very aerobic, however here on CoinTalk we get plenty of exercise, jumping to conclusions, knee-jerking and generally working our mouths Actually a group of really nice people as long as you don't try and come across as the world's greatest expert. Hang with us for awhile.
And, congrats on retiring at 60. Thats awesome!!! The way we are moving forward my generation is retiring at 70, not sure what quality things we will be doing after such a late retirement if we will be almost crawling by then
