What Makes This Coin so Interesting?

I think you misunderstood. I love all my coins and I'm proud to own these little pieces of history. About being or not being top shelve, I was comparing my coins to those of collectors of investment grade coins. Mine are not. And my point really was why would an average coin of a not so rare era garner as many or more views as much rarer and better struck/preserved coins? It really does not make much difference in the scheme of things. I'm like some of your cats. Curious!

Maybe because it is more common, more are interested?

Thanks! I installed it. Maybe I should install other "exotic" languages from the Google Noto font family.

Very nice, TIF. Glad you got it worked out. I was about to research it but since I don't use Macs or Apple products, it would be difficult figuring out what your issue is. It's only a matter of installing fonts for Phoenician.

    Thanks, Deacon Ray.

It's a nice coin with a lovely portrait, I'd click on it...Also I think his name is much less familiar especially to the less diehard Roman collectors..

Wow, that's pretty interesting @Bing ! I need to think about setting up a profile in FAC. When I taked to the owner (Mr. Sermarini I think) he suggested doing so. I was buying a coin over the phone.

You should. Joe has a nice forum and the gallery section as I said is an asset to any collector.

In the recent past he must've done a major update on the software or server. Every single click and page load used to take ~20-30 seconds (!!!) and now it is just a second or two. Yay! Now I can actually use that site :)

So on the topic of common, boring or rough coins getting many views...

My first thought is that those views come from people like me, 6 years ago when I began collecting ancients.

For even the roughest, ugliest and most common coins, I would use sites like FORVM to search out other examples and information on what the legend meant, what were the standard references were and all of that fun information.

When I started collecting, I had no books. Every fallen horseman, soldiers and standards, and Claudius II coin was researched like it was the only if it’s kind by finding other examples!

Anyway... that’s my guess. When you first get bit by the “ancients bug”... spending 3-4 hours finding a GLORIA EXERCITVS with exactly the same standard type as shown on your coin... well, it’s just what you do!
