It sure has been a while. Funny how time gets away from us. I am preparing to move in a few days. I took a job in a neighboring state and finding a new place to live with just a couple of weeks notice was a huge challenge. Then all the packing, of which I am taking a break from. I have had this coin for a little while I got it from FSR a few months ago. I feel bad that I haven't had time to do much research yet, it will be top priority once I get settled in at the new place. I have a few Julia Domna coins but the Ceres reverse is why I bought it. Not the best pic, ok its not even a good photo but hope it works for every one. Julia Domna-Ceres
Like Mat said, the reverse makes this coin. Congratulations. Oh, and good luck with the new job and the move. Moving can be such a headache!
Being retired military, I have moved more than most. In my 33 year career, I had 21 PCS moves (Permanent Change of Station). My sons never laid down any roots. My last move was just a year ago, and I swore then it would be my last!
Thanks @Bing I haven't moved in about 15 years and going from a 3 bed house to a 1 bed house, the madness. Still have to sell the property here so won't be done for some time. Looking forward to the newness though, a airplane I have never worked on. At 50 I'm still wanting to learn more. @Theodosius I'm not sure what she has, this is one of a handful from my last purchases and I haven't had time to resesrch any of them. I normally know what I'm buying when I buy it but this one I didn't, I didn't have a JD with Ceres and I trust Frank so I bid on it.
It is great coin. It almost looks like she is holding a duck or bird of some kind. I moved after 25 years in the same house. It is nice to have something new but the hassle involved was epic. Still have to sell my old place too. No new major coins until that happens. John
Lovely coin! Lots of detail on Domna's clothing and that Ceres is sublime! Here's my humble example: Julia Domna, AD 193-217. Roman AR denarius, 2.82 g, 20.0 mm. Rome, AD 200. Obv: IVLIA AVGVSTA, bare-headed and draped bust right. Rev: CERERI FRVGIF, Ceres seated left, holding corn ears and torch. Refs: RIC 546; BMCRE 10; Cohen 14; RCV 6576; Hill 424.
A beautiful coin that I wouldn't mind adding to my small but growing ancient collection. The reverse great!
Yep. The reverse rocks socks, but I love her hair and the youthful version of her captured on the obverse. Great choice! In regards to the move, Zen out and enjoy the process of renewal. It's only tedious when you get impatient. Congrats on the coin and new employment!
The Airbus or the 787, the fuselage. Either is going to be a new experience for me. Most likely the 787 though
