Looking for ideas, I'm thinking of sending some coins to get graded. Would this be a double die or just a basic mistake?

D/D is usually code for a RPM from the Denver mint. Since this is from philly, it can’t be a D/D. When talking about a Doubled Die, you would say DDO or DDR for obverse and reverse respectively.

Whatever it winds up being it is interesting. Ill ask now before others do and save you time. Any chance you can post complete obverse(front) and reverse(back) images? It will help.

    Cheers,

Based on your pics it appears that it is DDD ( die deterioration doubling) which is very common on 43 steel cents. IMO

Thanks for the information. So not worth sending it in to get graded I take it.

Nope. Not even close to being worthy of grading.

What about broken die or BIE errors. Looking on eBay they are all over the place. The black book I have doesn't list any errors just the coin and grade.
