Good morning! This penny has been residing for the past three years at the bottom of a 100-gallon water trough here on my little farm. Two of my young grandsons would use the trough as their little swimming hole - but not only would they swim and jump into the filthy thing (I kept fish in it to keep the mosquito larvae populations down, so never really cleaned it out), they would throw things into it, also: rocks big and small, iron rods, Matchbox cars...and apparently, this penny, which I ran across yesterday. Was cleaning the trough (fish had finally died) and saw it on the bottom. What do you all think? Will get better pics, if I can. Thank you!
In looking at the coin with a higher-powered loupe just now, I do believe there is a layer of something. Sorry to have wasted your time - thank you for it, though!
