Quick question for someone if they can answer this for me are proof planchet and regular strike planchet struck on the same planchet or are they totally different planets or they just polished the ones that are regular strike to make them look like proofs does that make sense

Not sure if the proof planchets are polished, but I think the dies are.

(Edit: apparently, the planchets are specially treated as well)

    I don't have a reference for you.

    Edit: here you go.

"Proof blanks are specially treated, hand-polished, and cleaned to ensure high-quality strikes. The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp, high relief. The coins are then carefully packaged to showcase and preserve their exceptional finish."

Proof cent planchets are specially created with at least double the thickness of copper plating compared to circulation planchets. But to look at them, they'd appear identical.

    Interesting. Why?

To prevent "zinc eruption" during a much deeper than normal striking.

How do they do this and keep the weight the same? Or is a proof cent heavier?

Good question. I assume the blank vendor takes care of it.
