OK OK, I know I shouldn't buy coins on e-bay, but take a look at this one and let me know if you think it is fake...tetradrachm, 15.9 g
I don't know this series at all, but I would NEVER buy an owl off of eBay, but only from a respected fixed-price dealer or from a major auction house. These are some of the most frequently faked coins in the marketplace. Caveat emptor!
I know that and respect your opinion, however I do look on e-bay for coins I am too cheap to pay the going rate for...
Didn't want to stop anyone from doing that, that's why I waited till it was over before asking. BTW, it was less than $100
You got a good deal getting that for less than $100. That's one of the things eBay is good for--getting lower grade coins at bargain prices. For a lot of us, it's the only way we'll ever get to won an owl. (That's where I got mine, too--similar grade, similar price.)
I buy many coins on eBay... don't have any idea how much money I've saved when compared to the overpriced auction house sites I've visited. Very happy with 95% of my eBay purchases.
It sure does look authentic. I also buy many coins off of ebay, and I think of the many coins I have bought, I only ended up with one counterfeit, which the seller accepted a return for no questions asked.
