Are there any coin shows that are especially good for newbies to go to. I live outside of Atlanta, but don't mind traveling. Would love to find one with short classes.

If you are a newbie, any coin show will be good for you. I would google coin show Georgia and start going. Yes, if you want to see a huge show, planning a trip to Florida in January for the FUN show is great, but that huge of a show can be overwhelming for experienced collectors, let alone new ones.

Oh, and if the show has any educational seminars, plan to go. Great way to learn more about this great hobby.

I recommend going to a few smaller club shows in your area. coinzip.com will list them. There is also a monthly commercial show; see atlcoin.com. I have no idea how good it is.

Also try to attend one of the really big shows. The FUN shows (2 per year) in Florida are the closest followed by the Baltimore Whitman shows (2 per year). From Atlanta, you should be able to get cheap plane tickets to either area.

Last year they had Randy'L Hedow Teton, the female model used to design the Sacagawea dollar giving a talk. I didn't have the opertunity to attend the lecture but my 12 year old daughter and her friend did, they loved it.
