OK, every year, Littleton offers their UNC American Silver Eagles at cost with free shipping and handling. Here's the info for this year's promo. You can get up to 5 2007 UNC ASE's for $15.95 each and a free Utah Quarter with Free Shipping and Handling at this link http://www.littletoncoin.com/specials The dept. number to enter is 7TT400. Now for some of the fine print warnings. By getting this deal, Littleton will sign you up for their coins on inspection program where they send you grossly overpriced coins for you to inspect. In all the previous years, they've sent me an Addressed, postage paid envelope to return the grossly overpriced coins. All I do is write CANCEL in huge permanent marker on the invoice and never hear from them again. For a company that rips people off, they have really good customer service. Two years ago, I place numerous orders for 5 coins each and Littleton honored them all. This was when their cost was $8.95 and silver had already shot up to $16/oz when I was placing the orders. I guarantee you that you will likely get MS-68 coins at best based on past experience, but this is a good way to get them at "cost" if you are only investing in them for the bullion value or only want to get a couple for gifts. They come in cheap holders that I immediately remove them from and put them in better holders. Anyway, just sharing in case anyone is interested. If you do order, I guarantee you will get a pretty good laugh at the prices they are asking for on their coins on inspection service.
That deal itself isn't bad. However, their coins - as you mentioned - are generally waaaay overpriced. This is why I don't understand why someone like Q. David Bowers would choose to associate himself with David Sundman and Littleton Coins.
dangg! I really like that deal, my dealer sells them for 18 dollars a piece, and buys them for 16.00!!! that means I could buy these off littleton, and turn a profit of 25 CENTS!!! Or I could just buy these for a nice cheap price and continue adding to my wonderfull silver collection
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Man, thanks, right when I just bought my last coins for the year, you show me this. Lol. I saw an ad in an old RD, that was selling them for $9.95. Guess how old that ad was? Phoenix
i really like littleton coin. Yes, the coins are over priced, but that is not all there is to collecting - price. they do have fantastic customer service, and their coins are fairly graded. For someone who doesnt know the hobby all that well, it might do them well TO use littleton to start or continue their collection. The odds of getting robed, ripped off or otherwise taken is next to nothing. In the end, they will end up with fairly graded coins that they may have overpaid for. There are very few companys in this hobby that can offer that same kind of thing. i dont work for littleton, and no, i dont buy from them either... but when i was alot younger i had gotten some coins from them. That was untill i learned i could get the cheaper elsewhere... but we all know cheaper is hardly ever better!!! now, i usually only buy the at cost eagles when i happen upon the ad! thanks gatzdon!!
Littleton does sell accurately graded coins, even if they are way overpriced. I will say that their customer service toward dealers who sell to them is not as good as their customer service toward the public.
The ad says it's only for new customers. Will they check to see if you've ordered from them before? (I took them up on a previous loss leader that was a good deal and then canceled the coin on approval plan).
That's why I threw the comment in there about ordering multiple times (the one year they had them for $8.95 while silver had already shot past $16/oz, I placed multiple orders in the same year). I've gotten in on this deal every year since I found out about it. They usually continue these deals long after the advertised expiration date. So if you are on the fence, you can always wait and see if it's still available next month.
What makes you think that Bowers associates himself with Littleton? Just because he did an obit on Sundman (the elder)? He is associated with Stacks, in NY and NH.
Just bumping the thread, was posting in another thread and it reminded me about this deal. This deal is still available and the current buy price for Apmex.com was $17.11 this morning. Their sell price is $18.15. I imagine dealers are selling for even more.
I was going to bump this to today , I bought 5 yesterday , hopefully they will come in! I should buy more though..
Since the profit shares went electronic, I'm wondering if they are tracking new customers better. I'm using different family member names and different credit card numbers for subsequent orders, but I have received multiple orders in the past. Just don't forget to write cancel with big permanent marker on the invoice and send their overpriced coins on approval back ASAP. Also, don't forget that you can get something (not much) with your 798 profit shares from this deal here. http://www.littletoncoin.com/webapp...01|10001|-1|||FooterShoppingProfitShares.html You can get a couple wheat cents or even a silver war nickel with 798 points.
Thanks for the info, last year a group of us here got some 2006-W silver eagles at a great price, I just ordered 5 of these coins, because silver was hovering around 16.40 this morning.
if speedy doesnt faint when he sees this i wonder what he will have to say on litleton being the good guys ?
I did the Littleton thing years ago for a ASE offer. Wish I had thought of the CANCEL angle though. Never considered trying it again though or multiple orders. Reminds me of a story my local dealer told me. He once ordered "limited" sets from somewhere (can't remember) and put in orders in his wife's name, kids' names and even his cat Trudy. Seems Trudy the cat got junk mail for a long time after that.
I placed an order on 1/9 and my status is "pending fulfillment." The ad was in one of last year's AARP newsletter and mentioned a 12/31/2007 expiration for the offer. .......and yep. this year I officially become the big FIVE-O!
I just got my order today , Pretty satisfied with the quality of the coins too. It was deff worth it.
I love that. I sign up for Physical Junk Mail all the time. Anything I can do to help fund the Post Office and Postpone rate hikes, I do in a heartbeat. Plus, the junk mail makes for free heat also.
