Are the rotated coins ones you plan on replacing? Just picked up a 7070, this just looks way too fun. (Plus I need to move on from my Cheap Whitman 20th Century Set)
Some are (like the Barbers). They aren't rotated on purpose though. Some of the coins are heavily circulated and thus don't fit snugly into the holes. Another case (like the 1819 cent) is that Dansco made the hole too large and thus the coin will always move (it's a bit annoying but I have come to live with it).
Congrats on progress!! You have so many of the tough ones filled!! All the halves, the 20 center!! I got my first bust Half hole filled today!!
Yes there is a gold page, but Dansco has been slow to release it. I believe one was supposed to be out late last year, but I have not heard if it ever materialized. If you watch ebay, one can occasionally score an inexpensive one. The normal price appears to be $5.95-$7.45, but they are not in stock from the major sellers: http://www.danscoalbumstore.com/type-7070-dansco-album-page-gold-p-8618.html
I sold a blank gold page for $50 last year. They are hard to find, but once they get re-released, the price will drop to $5.95 again. So if you find one cheap, unload it quick for a profit!
Another update...all 3 of these upgraded coin I already had. ~1909 VDB (went from XF to toned UNC) Video to show the color: https://www.instagram.com/p/BhZf7NvlI8H/?taken-by=u1toning
~Seated Quarter w/ motto (I used to have a heavily circulated example): ~Capped Bust Half (same grade as before, but this one has a bit more detail and some color):
By the way, does anyone have any creative uses (besides the trash can/recycle bin) for the this stuff?
I’m not sure. With certain coins Anacs has been especially hard lately. There were a few posts on here where Anacs coins have upgraded by a few grades. This one I bought already graded (didn’t send it myself) and it looked perfect for the album, so I cracked it (plus even if it upgraded to a 63, it would not be worth the certification costs).
The one I put in my 7070 looks about the same, except the obverse is a lot more red than brown. I think I paid $30 for it ten years or so ago.
What I liked about this example is that the obverse is purple. The seller’s photo (that I posted) wasn’t great and I think that lowered the final price (it cost me $18.75 via eBay).
Two more upgrades: ~Barber Quarter VF Details, but it looks nicer in hand (replaces a heavily circulated example) ~Columbian Expo Half Unc Details (replaces an XF-polished example)
