And I thought those "Plated" State quarters were a rip-off: http://themoneyledger.com/ Just flipping thru the channels and saw the tail end of this infomercial. (It's about 10 till 2AM here in Hawaii.) Dear lord, I may have been out of the hobby for a long time, but since when did a former Deputy Director of the BEP qualify as an appraiser?
i dont see anythign wrong with it... a book to hold un-cut currency - in sheets of four anyway. did i miss something? was there somethign thatmade this seem shady?
Two things. They had the BEP guy appraise a sheet of 12 Silver Certificates, and had 4 people try and value it. The couple ended up with it with their guess of 3K or something like that. Now, they only gave his BEP credentials. And like I said, I didn't know being in the BEP automatically qualifies you as a appraiser of rare currency.... Plus the host guy stressed alot about the Ledger. Now in the showings, they turned to pages with the Uncut sheets of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, and $50 and hollered about giving away Free Money (Like $1 Million worth). It was too good be true to have a ledger with Uncut $50 sheets for $88, so I went to the website, and sure enough, your only getting the token $1 coin, the Ledger, and an Uncut Sheet of $1 bills. I dunno, seeing the Plated State Quarters and those MS69 Silver Eagle Informercials just jaded me to such Infomercials. Shoot, I see those exact same coins at the local pawn shops just collecting dust . How did that phrase go...."If it's too good to be true....."
Great website. Thanks for the link. I've been looking for a book for my uncut sheets and this really seems like a quality holder. No scam here ... just an expensive binder at $102.00 delivered. From reading the site, it's clear that you only get the $1.00 sheet with the binder and you have to buy their other sheets seperately. Anyone with knowledge of the BEP website will buy from the BEP instead of these guys. Their only value ..may be the binder ..it will depend on the quality. It looks like a nice presentation piece.
Exactly. I'm going "Wait, their offering "Free Money" and they want you to pay for a Ledger with only a sheet of $1 bills? When their displaying $2 to $50 sheets of money on the show?" And why not have a reputable Currency Dealer on the show? I found the BEP guy completely dubious and used his former BEP position as a way to "legitimize" his position. I mean, I don't go to a Vet to have a Cold taken care of. And I "loved" the way the host guy tried to pawn off the Presidential Dollar coin as a "Family Heirloom." Please, if thats the truth, I can go to the local Post Office and get $15 in "Family Heirlooms" very easily.
