http://cgi.ebay.com/1811-50c-Capped...ryZ11969QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This coin is a monster IMO.
I didn't even know something that old and toned could get such a high grade. whats that CAC sticker ?
Beautiful coin! I like the sticker too. But I'm not sure if having the CAC sticker would influence my coin buying judgement. You know, buy the coin, not the slab.
it has already been done twice since the last time i saw her...it obviously looks better now with the ugly tarnish removed. has gone from anacs 66 to pcgs 63 to it's current ngc 68. another example of the great work of ncs.
Very nice coin, very nice grade, just not soemthing that I would purchase IMO. Just me. Thanks for showing us though Zane. :thumb: Phoenix
Nice details, but a lot to ask for such an obviously cleaned coin. Plus, the colors are a bit distracting to me along the outside edge of the reverse. Too bad they mucked-up what was once probably a very nice piece. Guy~
Woud you please explain this comment? I don't follow you. In other words, how do you know you've seen this coin before, and assuming you have, where and when. Thanks...Mike
I'd have to say the coin is overgraded myself. Yeah, it's extremely unusual to find such nice examples, but 68 ? No way.
examined 1999 central states, 2002 baltimore, and 2007 ana milwaukee jrcs/bust half nuts. ''it is the best hands down! None finer!'' this piece, in my opinion, probably grades 58 or 63 on technical merit depending on how much rub ''you'' see. and if i recall correctly, the condition census is 64... either way the price of this piece is not too far off, considering the provenance it carries with it. i assume the auction is posted solely for advertisement and the auction will be ended early for private sale
Wow, an AU 68. That's a new grade. Seriously, thanks for sharing your experience. I wouldn't have guessed that a coin with that toning and with that price tag and well-known history would be in NGC 68 plastic, much yet after being dipped and (artificially?) toned. Market grading at its finest, I suppose. Fascinating, and thanks again for sharing your experience...Mike
