I am going to my first coins show Saturday in Huntington WV. Sponsored by Mountain State Numismatic Society and coin zip. Its at the high school. I hope to meet people there.

Too far away to consider going but I have been through there many times. I am really surprised that it is a big enough town to be able to hold a coin show.
Have fun at the show!!! I remember the excitement I had when I was going to my first show! Be sure to not be afraid to talk to the dealers at the show. Just strike up a conversation. You can tell really quick if they're interested in talking to you and you might learn a thing or two as you are purchasing. I am starting to realize that I like the smaller shows much better.

Interesting. I think I would want to go to several first to see what goes on before I went as a dealer.

Enjoy the Show , talk to the dealers with your questions , please do not nose in on another customer talking to a dealer , we get this all the time and it is annoying for all of us. Have Fun , a long time Dealer.
I love coin shows. I was in the Seattle area not too long ago for a show with about 80 dealers. I had a blast, even if I didn’t buy much.
I'm excited. I'm hoping I can do some trading as I don't have a lot of money to spare because wife is fighting work comp. It'll be fun no matter what.
I'm surprised as well. As far as I know it's the first one. I hope there is a good turn out so they keep having them.
It was an education believe me. I was set up next to a friend and veteran dealer. I’d primarily bought online and at antique auctions and estate sales. I didn’t know what I was missing I never been to a major national show though
I love going to coin shows. They are a lot of fun. I was at one last Saturday. I struck up a conversation with a dealer and I found we had a lot of common thoughts about coins. I bought a remarkably lusterous 1897 Morgan with rose/magenta toning on the rims. It was in a ANACS soap bar, graded MS64. I wasn't looking for a Morgan, but this one spoke to me. I also picked up a 1824 Bust Half VF35 O-117 in an ANACS Soap Bar. He gave me a good deal on both coins. We talked for about a 1/2 hour+. I grabbed his card and I expect I'll be buying more coins from him in the future. IMO, it pays to start a conversation with the dealer before ever asking to see a coin. In my experience, when you do this, you'll usually get a discount off the listed price. Remember, the dealer is dealing with the general public and I believe they appreciate it when the customer wants to discuss things other than price.
I just got back and I had a blast, I didn't really pick up alot but a few odd's and ends like 2 mint bags one was from 72 for LMC and the other im not sure what it held if I can get a pic of it i'll post it later. Most importantly I gained alot of knowledge and met someone there that recently started a local coin club that he invited me to and I graciously accepted. Boy was there a bunch of eye candy and if I had the money to spare I could have walked out with some great deals. One thing I tried to do but I just dont know if I have the knack for it is trying to cherry pick . For one I dont have enough knowledge of all the things to look for but the big thing is I dont know if I have the courage to sit at someones booth and go through their albums trying to find something they dont know they have it just makes me uncomfortable. Speaking of uncomfortable I have mentioned there is a drug epidemic in our area and I seen a junkie there talking to a vendor saying all the coins he had is an error of some sort and you could see the level of discomfort on his face cause the guy was apparently jonesing he was sweaty and just tweaking out, poor guy I bet he regretted coming because of that him.
