ANACS Off-center 25c clad layer with inverted mirror image (split off from coin)

This is the clad layer only - the coin it came off from is not included. Even more bizarre that it is off center (too bad no date)

Notice the reverse is the inverted mirror image of the obverse.

I appreciate any estimates from people who know and understand these types of errors. 21556.jpeg 21558.jpeg

I am surprise that ANACS would assign a MS 60 grade to half of the clad layer that doesn't include the actual coin. I am even more surprised that this made it out of the mint and into your hands. Very strange.

I am disappointed they didn't put the weight on it

Does the weight really pertain to it? Same planchet just off center. Right?

I am not surprised by any of the above . . . layers like this are simply the result of the layer vibrating off of the clamshell delaminating coin after strike.

Well, this is only the layer, not the planchet. I'm guessing the layer itself weighs about a gram.

The Planchet it detached off of must really be interesting to see also!

So I'm guessing no one wants to go on the record to state what they think this might be worth?

Hmmm. How about "more than $75" or "less than $75." Someone has got to have an idea :cigar:

Aint that kinda real special. Appears to me that that coin was struck without a reverse die or whatever. Wouldn't it have some kind of reverse

Yeah good point. Is lacking that good positive info. Good question. Thinking that it could be a wrong fit or what (planchet) if thats what its called
