If those aren't part of the design they are just did breaks. A cud needs to involve the rim

There was another thread showing another die chip at the front of the hat.

What do you think about this definition of a Cud, by Coins Expert, Susan Headley?

    "Definition of a Cud

A cud on a coin is a damaged area resembling a blob on the surface of a coin which is raised above the field, and which obliterates the device or inscription where it appears. Cuds are the result of die cracks or die breaks which have become severe, or from die chips where part of the die surface has become damaged and broken away.
Some experts in the coin error-variety hobby insist that for the blob to be called a cud, the damaged part of the die must include part of the edge of the die. Although this is the purist definition, in common parlance you'll see the term "cud" used to describe the blob created by any die chip or serious die crack, regardless of its placement on the die or coin."

It was just interesting that these die chips showed up around the hat area. I keep stuff like this.

Yeah I found one that looks like there's a bird with a piece of straw in its beak on top of Teddy's hat.

I don't think she's an expert, and she does have her Head stuck in the wrong place. I have no respect for so-called experts who make up their own definitions to suit themselves. Apparently, she doesn't even know how or why the term "cud" came to be used.

Good Lord. "Post truth" has reached numismatics.

@Defenderone, note that "purists" in her usage means "every numismatist who has any idea what they're about" in ours. She's a detriment to numismatics, and is going to hear about it in the next ten minutes.

Not much. Extrapolating on her definition, all sausages are hot dogs, all bathtubs are hot tubs, all criminals are felons. I guess there are lumpers and there are splitters.
