And finally a Capped Bust Quarter, coming to a details discount thread near you at some point (thus no grade info here):
Nice addition! It appears to be Browning-1. Neat die crack in the field above the eagle’s head (running from A in STATES to M in AMERICA).
Time for an update! The Quarter in post #81 above is graded XF-Details (Obverse scratch). New items include: ~an 1862 Indian Head cent (ex-ICG)
~A clad 1994 Soccer (World Cup) Commemorative Half Dollar (scratches were on the slab...this one I paid about the same as if it had been raw; I took a small gamble thinking the coin might be nicely toned based on the original seller's photo; when it turned out to be blast white, I decided it would fit well in the album).
~1835 Half Cent thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/guess-the-grade-1835-half-cent.314888/#post-3057230
I need one Seated Dollar (no motto), but I continue to be outbid in auctions. I was fortunate to find the motto for a good price early on. Some of the early cents and half cents have been challenging as well (and in general Page #1 is the page that I have the most empty spots left). I finally bought the 1835 half cent (from post #85 above) after searching months for the right look. Well the search continues! Best of luck to you as well; the right coins will be there soon!
And a few more that I have had but haven't put up any pictures: ~1909 VDB...might be replaced...I have a nice looking Anacs MS 61 that I'm debating cracking ~1851 Half Cent
~1942 Mercury...thread here: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1942-mercury-dime-gtg-slec-can-be-used-here.298805/
Didnt know they re-released these albums. I had a empty old second one i was going to sell, but too late now. Anyways, i love that im not the only one who puts problem coins in this album. My problem coins are much worse, eg they might have holes, counterstamps, etc, but i still love it all! Cant believe they took this long to release these lovely albums again.
Can we get updated full page pics? Seems like you're pretty close now. I think cracking and using 'problem' coins is a great way to do a 7070. A slab doesn't help a problem coin, but an album displays them nicely. Great work!
Completely agree. I think that's the best way to do albums especially with those problem coins that are still attractive.
I'm working on a 7070 right now. I'm trying to go for the highest grade I can afford now. I used to fill it with lower grade coins, but now I've decided to now purchase one high grade, original coin instead of many problem coins. Any full page pics?
@Beefer518 and @SilverDollar2017 here are some full page images (quality is poor as I struggled taking a good picture of a full page, but one can get an idea of what is filled).
So 12 coins left to go...Page 1 and 2 have the most empty spots at 5 each. Some coins may be replaced if I find nicer examples (as some spots were filled with coins that I already had before the album was purchased). Also the 1935 Peace Dollar is relatively new. It upgraded a raw XF-Details (scratched/cleaned) 1935-S. I purchased an entire raw date set and picked this one for the album while selling the rest (it's a nice UNC piece but has a barely noticeable mark in the field).
