All of my Ike's are in proof or uncirculated sets. Is it acceptable to break the sets open so the Ike's can be graded or do the grading companies grade the entire year set encased? Also,I am thinking about putting the ungraded coins in Everslab's for uniformity and presentation.

Make sure the Ikes are worth dislodging from the set.

Fun. I wonder how they know it's a proof.

I have broke open a lot of sets over the years. Most of the time there was only one coin in the set that was worthy of the cost to have it grader. It took me a while to learn how to grade Ike's. They can be tricky. A lot of the images in this thread can be helpful.

This is a Type one and my question is the R considered a "pegleg"?
