I've even heard the "cashless society" story go so far as in the future plastic will be obsolete. Your "worth" will be stored electronically and it would be accessed through a retina scan.

So will people be kidnapped and have their eyes spooned. I guess a body temperture scan of the eye will have to be adjusted as well as retinal responding to light flashes to prevent that.

I think that we are more then 1/2 way to a cashless society but I think that the quality coins ,that have been decided upon already and have not been identified as such yet, will still have high value for historical reasons, etc..

As for when we will have a cashless society is anybody's guess but the man with the hat made a good point about not forgetting about areas of the world that are not in our century and still might not be for a long time to come and a cashless society can not work unless it is worldwide.

As for Coast to Coast, well the only time I ever heard that broadcast was when I am driving cross the eastern seaboard at 3 in the morning and they could have some pretty far out stories.

I clicked on the link and, nothing personal longnine, I can't take a site seriously that promotes the design of "art" through roadkill. They kind of lost their credibility with me there.

The major problem with this plastic is that it doesn't work very well after being encased in a holder. The readers have a heck of a time working, and they are hard to grade. I recommend that we stick with coins. ;)

The show was started by Art Bell, one of the all-time crackpots. I remember hearing his show around 98-99, and him warning us all to stock up on rice for the impending Y2K armageddon. :D

I believe that it will take the demise of at least two maybe three more generations before the desensitization of folks to the lack of actual money in hand to be completed,, the process has begun but folks dont get used to an Idea as easily as some would like,

The euro is the beginning of the process believe it or not its not the credit card that will bring about the change but the world wide currency movement ,,once that is accomplished it is a minor move to a cashless society.

one world Mint ,one world banking system ,one super computer, want to buy or sell ?

    register with the system !!!!!

Americans can't even be convinced to give up paper dollars for dollar coins.
