I just found this in a bag of wheat pennies I received from an older dear friend of mine. Could you guys give me an estimate of its worth? It’s not in great shape, but it sticks to a magnet :)

I just found a second one. This one is a 1943d and sticks to a magnet :)

Only worth a few cents above face value.

Ummmmm... They are supposed to stick to a magnet. They are made of steel! o_O
Why do you keep saying that?

The ones that are in good shape are around a dime or 15 cents. The S mints in good shape bring a little more. Yours are beat up. 3-5 cents.

At first as a novice coin collector, I thought the 1943 steel was the rare year and type. It’s the 1944 steel and 1943 copper that are rare, though.

Did I do wrong for paying 50 cents each for 1943 steels for AU examples?

Not at all. That's a great price.

No, but the value is for original zinc coat on the steel core. When looking at the edge, if not replated, the steel core will look different from the obv/rev. If replated all surface on coin will look same and less value. There are very large number or re-plated 1943 cents out there. Jim

Agree with Paddy. But, would need photos, if they were replated then yes.
If they are AU and uncleaned then no.
