$1 dollar bill serial number

Discussion in 'Paper Money' started by Roberto G. Wantland, Apr 11, 2018.

  1. I got this $1 dollar bill at the store with my change, is it considered a low serial number? is the bill worth keeping or should I expend it?

  3. Sorry, in my previous post I couldn't upload the $1 dollar picture for you to see the serial number, it is a 2009, San Francisco (12), SERIAL #L 00178118 U Is it considered a low serial number? a keeper? and value if any. Sorry I can't upload the photo.
    Thanks.

I do not think it is low enough nor is it an interesting number. Spender.

From what I have found, usually, dollar bills have to have 4 zeros or more to be worth anything.

When one thinks about it, there is no central authority figure to look to in deciding how many zeros constitutes what is a low serial number. You basically have to be your own boss with this. For me personally, four leading zeros or more constitutes a low serial number. It's basically like fact vs. opinion. To a child, someone who is 25 may well be considered old but to someone in their 60's, 25 is likely seen as very young.

This is incorrect logic. There actually is a standard for low serial number and it is
00000100 or lower. To a lesser degree 00000999 and lower.
You are certainly welcome to PM me about my 0000xxxx 5 dollar bills.
