Was wondering if this looks like a mint error and if so what kind? Maybe lamination or die break? Thank you.

Well thank you wasn't sure that's why I asked. The thing is the lettering on the one cent is is overlapped with different letters that's where I don't understand that it is just damaged. Where would those letters come from? Can you tell me if this one is an error coin.

I looked at your pictures really good. I can't see to what you are reffering.

    Welcome to Cointalk
Based on the pics you provided your coin appears to be PMD- Post Mint Damage as stated, it might help in the future if you would rotate your coin and crop out all background and select full image when you post. IMO

Whatever damaged your coin did so with enough force to move a certain amount of the medal from its original position, to a different position on the coin. That is a very interesting damaged coin. It looks like it was assimilated by the Borg.

Take 2 coins and put them in a vise or hit the stack with a hammer. It will be pretty obvious where the letters come from.

Remember, there are a lot more damaged coins in circulation than actual mint errors. Keep looking and learning.

As a novelty and conversation starter at the flea market I used to display a 1961 Lincoln and described it as an extremely rare error because everything but the date was upside down. Several people offered me large amounts and I had to explain the joke to them and tell then they might have one in their pocket. This was in the seventies. I no longer set up at flea markets.

morgan, I see you just joined yesterday, so welcome to CT!

Although you are new here, since you're already throwing around terms like "lamination" & "die break", I am going to assume this is not your first coin experience.

Let me suggest that when you have an answer from paddyman98, such as you did within 15 min. of your post, just stop & go on to another coin. There may be equals but no one better than him in this arena! All you have is a heavily abused coin, nothing more, & you can't make it into something more.

I gather damaged coins and save them in 2x2s with the cause of the damage marked if known. I only keep cents. There is nearly an endless variety of creative mischief. They aren't worth more than face value to anyone.
