I recently got my hands on a few reasonably old coins, and I managed to identify them. However a few still remain a mystery to me. This one looks and feels like an old coin (and not, say, like a New Hampshire highway token, which I also found in that pile). It's about a size of a penny, but only half as thick. Here are the pictures, please let me know if I should hang on to this or not. Scans are attached.
It's not a coin. Exactly what it's purpose is / was I couldn't tell you but I can tell you that it is relatively modern and relatively worthless unless you collect such items or you know others who do. As to whether or not you should hold on to it......well that all depends on your own tastes and what you see fitting with your collection. Someone somewhere might just be sitting back waiting on that particular piece to fill the vacant spot in their collection. However, if you are looking for ways to get rich, I wouldn't count on that particular opportunity too much. ;-)
A search on MEKU NP75 found this: GOOGLE:http://www.numismatikforum.de/ftopic2909.html Can someone translate? My German stinks. Perhaps a Nescafe promotion token?
GOOGLE gave me a translated forum index page with search ability in English. Search results were still in German. Any suggestions?
Cut and paste the text you want translated into a translation site, like Babel Fish. (don't remember the URL offhand)
