Could somebody give me some idea as to what this is. Is it strike doubling? It doesn't seem that flat and it's trippled. I have seen strike doubling on both sides of a letter but not multiple images on the same side like this. Thanks. Neill.
The rest of the coin just looks like a circulated Kennedy. I can only see doubling of the mintmark. At first I thought you couldn't get strike doubling restricted to this small an area but the doubled die document in the nickel varieties forum suggests otherwise as the mintmark is very deep. I took picture of a bigger portion of the coin. I need to work out how to get rid of the bright spots on the coins caused by reflected light. Anyone have any experience using a microscope to take pictures? Thanks. Neill
Yes, that is strike doubling. It can occur on many or one device in random places which is why it is not catagorizable like true hub doubled dies.
Hey jtwax. I noticed you're part of CONECA which I just discovered a couple of days ago, and am trying to figure out the whole error coining world. I have a couple of basic questions. What is the difference between an Attribution server and Examination other than the slabbing? I have an old 46 wheatie with a very strange revers, but don't know if it's worth having evaluated. I may have a one of a kind, but I don't want to spend the money if it's really just a damaged coin. I don't think it is, but I need some guidance as to have professionally looked at or not.
