It appears you might have a dryer coin PMD (Post Mint Damage). This is not a mint error.IMO

It could have been caught in a dryer, but it is not a Mint error.

Hmm. ..I had sent out an email to Fred Weinberg...who replied that it is possibly damaged....I guess he meant not as it having a error. ....so I must of read it wrong....

    It's not an error.
The minting process is fairly straight forward.

There are only a handful of things that can cause errors in the minting process.

But an unlimited amount of things that can happen to change/coins/currency once it's in circulation. It would be virtually impossible to list everything that could happen to coins in a non-error website/book.

Okay, I'm just going to throw this out there - Fred Weinberg has a business to run. He also gets many hundreds of emails like this a day. Stop a moment - do you think that's fair to expect of him? YIKES! Some people have no idea!

PMD = Post Mint Damage. ie, it was damaged after it left the US Mint.

I wasn't meaning it like that in anyway....I usually ask him. ..Bc he had bought a coin from me a few years back which had a broadstrike error on it. ....but I was referring to mis-reading his reply

^^^ This.... That is a sandblasted dime. The guys at the body shop were testing airflows and the dime was the sacrificial test piece.

Yeah! There are other specialists who will charge you a fee just to tell you that your coin is PMD! Why don't you send it to them?
