I'm confused, what exactly is this?

I believe it is a Carr piece struck on a 2007 SAE?

Thanks for starting this thread. I especially want to see photos of coins I didn't order... and examples of the bonus medals Dan produced.

USPS says my delivery is scheduled for tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Background Info: Each year the KOTCT members make a group buy of Dan Carr (Moonlight Mint) custom-designed medals.

For the 10th Anniversary in 2017, ~37 members ordered a total of ~540 medals -- from a selection of 14 different medals.

Guess I need to read up on these Dan Carr pieces. So they are struck over other coins? That isn't considered defacing of the coin? Or is that only for coins in circulation, not bullion and other non circulation cons? Interesting either way and I like that Knight design, very cool.

  10. Mine have not shipped yet. ☹️ I cannot wait to see the bimetallic medals. It was also very generous for @dcarr to include a free bonus medal for everyone that ordered. :)

I can't wait for the antiqued pieces and the "special" coin. One of the special coins has lots of color in COs picture, bottom right.

Despite common myth, "defacing" coins is not illegal in any way. Melting Cents and Nickels for their metal content IS illegal.

There have been many treads here concerning the legality of these coins. Every one that I have seen deteriorated into two sides bickering over it and arguing the same points over and over again. There are a bunch of them. It's actually pretty entertaining from an outside perspective. Check 'em out.

Oh. I thought that was a play on words, not a real organization. Kinda silly sounding lol

Most of the 10th Anniversary are tokens not over struck coins. Only the 2007/2017 ASE and the clad Ike are over stuck

I was speaking off Carr's creations in general. I don't know much about these.

I'm going to guess yes...so the date can be seen from the original coin. It would go with the 10th anniversary theme.
