Mint error or PMD ?

    Since it is put in the case after minting, it can still be a PMD. And thats what it is, a PMD or PSD. Same thing. PSD is less commonly used though.

    Happened while GOING INTO the case, not during minting. Still PMD

    Thanks guys,
    I will try to get a better pic of this tonight.
    The damage looks kinda funny to me... not like a scratch.

    It looks like it has pitting in the photo, Like a planchet flaw.
    Agree with more photos.

    Good photos, for going through plastic.
    It still looks to be damage below the surface of the field.
    I am thinking struck-though debris of some kind.
    Is there any odd marks on the reverse that might hint at a post-mint inpact to the obverse?

    Looks like a strike through error to me. The texture doesn't look like an impact or scratch and I don't see any raised/displaced metal along the edges.

    Not sure if it adds any value and may actually reduce the value of the SMS set

    I've never checked, but can the SMS plastic containers be pried open easily. Such as someone opening to check out the coins then accidentally damaging one ?
