Best means what is most searched for, most rare/valuable.

Numismatic videos on YouTube are filled with a tremendous amount of incorrect info, clickbait, and just plain old lies. There are some worthwhile videos, but with all of the crap, it's nearly impossible for a newbie to sort it out.

The biggest source of contention on CT is when a new collector sees something on youtube and posts a question here. Many times, when told they have nothing valuable from experienced and knowledgeable collectors who freely give their time to help, the newbie insists the experienced collector doesn't know what they are talking about. After all, they saw a video. Which then leads into other discussions on people being rude to newbies. And things just go downhill.

I believe you tube is the biggest perpetrator of garbage numismatic information. LOOK!!! your shiny penny may be worth thousands (with no mention of how to grade MS67+ coins) or everybody's favorite, the 1982-D copper small date with rarely a mention that out of 6 BILLION coins minted in Denver that year, only 1 has been found. Heck, some don't even tell you how to determine if it's a LD or SD or how to get an accurate weight.

At least on CT, if you give somebody an incorrect answer, there are enough people who will correct it (and God forbid, if you're pretending to be an expert and give a wrong answer).

That's why most people on CT who actually know something about numismatics despise what youtube can do to new collectors

saw another CTer write this and decided to steal it :dead:

With all due respect, you also expressed your faith that BlueRidgeSilverhound was a "decent coin youtuber" even though he most certainly is not.

That said, one can only wonder why this supposedly decent YouTuber is here asking such basic questions. Perhaps this is his way of getting us to do his work for him? Wouldn't be the first time....

You wouldn't be referring to our lovely new echo, would you? I'm certainly not the only one who has noticed....
