Remarkably cool error. I wonder if when it circulated if people recognized it as a dime or as a quarter eagle? I’d be inclined to think it was viewed as a dime since it obviously wasn’t made of gold.

It probably circulated as a dime for 50+ years until it was discovered. And then it has been sitting in someones collection hidden away for 100 years. Awesome.
